'Escaping Reality'

I wanted to paint something with a special forces kind of soldier that really really contrasts the meaning of them. So you've got your special ops soldier who is an elite in his field, a trained killer. "Special forces soldiers need to be physically and mentally robust and have the confidence, courage, and skill to operate individually or in small teams, often in isolation and in a hostile environment. They are high-value assets commanded at the strategic level, delivering effects disproportionate to their size."
On the other hand you have the butterfly who lands on the barrel of the gun, in the middle of the combat. The butterfly could be described as being one of the most harmless and innocent things in nature. The butterfly causes the soldier to have a flashback of what things were like back home, the peaceful and quietness of it all. The butterfly was one of the first things that came to my mind that fitted the vision, so I went with it and this is the result! Thanks for looking and any constructive feedback is always appreciated.

Sketched and painted in Photoshop CS5 and I used a few different reference photos.
